High Prairie School Division (HPSD) is pleased to announce several exciting new appointments to its leadership team for the upcoming school year. These talented professionals bring a wealth of experience, deep community connections, and a shared commitment to student success and well-being.
Jenny St. Jean – Coordinator of Literacy and New Curriculum
With more than 20 years in education and a career with HPSD since 2006, Jenny St. Jean brings a wealth of experience and passion to her new role. She holds a Master of Education in Educational Research from the Werklund School of Education at the University of Calgary, with a specialization in children's mental health and school psychology.
"In addition to my focus on mental health, I have developed a deep passion for literacy, especially in relation to French language development. I am excited to step into my new role and utilize my diverse skill set and experience to support literacy and the implementation of the new curriculum," stated Mrs. St. Jean.
Jon Klyne – Vice Principal, E.W. Pratt High School
High Prairie School Division is proud to welcome Jon Klyne as Vice Principal of E.W. Pratt High School, beginning in the 2025–26 school year. Mr. Klyne brings 15 years of experience as an educator, youth liaison, and football coach. A proud Métis educator, he is dedicated to fostering inclusive, culturally responsive learning environments and has spent the past three years teaching at Little Red River Cree Nation.
Mr. Klyne holds a Bachelor of Education from the University of British Columbia, where he earned the Outstanding Practicum Award, and is currently pursuing a Master of Education in School Leadership from the University of Alberta. His experience spans high school English, Social Studies, and Creative Writing, and his leadership in professional development and instructional excellence. Mr. Klyne will assume the role from current Vice Principal Ida Scarpelli in the upcoming school year.
Kim McConnell – District Principal of Support Services
Kim McConnell, who rejoined HPSD in June 2023 as the Early Learning and Assessment Coordinator, has been appointed District Principal of Support Services.
Mrs. McConnell brings extensive leadership experience, including five years as Director of Inclusive Learning with Grande Yellowhead School Division. There, she developed partnerships with Alberta Health Services, FSCD, the FASD Network, and Children's Services to strengthen supports for students and families. She is well-versed in legislative requirements and has led Programming for Unique Needs (PUF), collaborated with multidisciplinary teams, and guided staff in literacy and numeracy assessments.
Having worked extensively in northern Alberta, Kim understands the unique needs of rural communities and is a strong advocate for equitable access to education and student support services.
Meghan Adams – Vice Principal, Joussard School
High Prairie School Division is pleased to welcome Meghan Adams to the newly established role of Vice Principal at Joussard School. Ms. Adams brings 15 years of experience in education, having taught students from Kindergarten to Grade 3 before serving as the school's Learning Support Teacher. She holds a Master of Education from the University of Calgary, which she completed in 2020.
Adams is deeply connected to the school community, having attended Joussard School herself as a student. "Having the opportunity to hold a leadership role in the school that I attended as a student feels like a special full-circle moment in my career," she says. "I am very excited for all of the new learning opportunities this position will afford me. It has been an honour to grow and learn alongside my students and colleagues. I will continue to do so as I look forward to further serving my school and community in this new capacity."
