We have begun writing our class rock song.  This song will be based on Queen's "We Will Rock You" and will allow us to apply our knowledge of minerals, erosion and rock formation.  We are really excited about the song and can't wait to unveil it at the assembly!

Our Science in Motion workshop, "Gravel, Grit and Grime" was rock-tastic!  Whitney from the Telus World of Science taught us about the three rock types - Igneous, Sedimentary and Metamorphic rocks.  We were then given a chance to look at a variety of rocks and describe their properties.  Finally, we were given a rock and we used a series of tests to identify it.

We had a busy day today in Grade 3!  Right after morning recess, we joined the school in the gym for the Science in Motion presentation on Cryogenics.  Whitney from Telus World of Science told us all about how the properties of solids, liquids and gases change when cooled and heated.  She used liquid nitrogen to cool objects down to -198 degrees Celsius.   In the afternoon, we participated in the Terry Fox Run.  It was a lot of hard work! Tomorrow, we are looking forward to our class Science in Motion workshop called "Gravel, Grit and Grime".
